And then a more baffling and rather damaged painting of Danae by Clifford which appears to be inscribed, barely legibly, that it is a copy of an EBJ picture given by him in 1870 to a Mrs Baldwyn. I’ve never known what to make of it, but I bought it from Jeremy Maas some time in the 70s,
