Working copies, after designs for stained glass by Edward Burne-Jones, of scenes illustrating the legend of St. Frideswide for the east window of the Latin Chapel. The window, a memorial for canon John Bull (d. 1858), was executed by the firm of James Powell and Sons of Whitefriars, London, with Benjamin Woodward as architect. Woodward supplied Burne-Jones with the wrong measurements. The present copies, which reduce the designs of Burne-Jones’s original cartoons to the correct size, were prepared for Powell and Sons by Miss Oakman. The copies contain eight of the sixteen scenes of the four main lights: lights 1, scene ii; 3, scenes ii-iv; 4, scenes 1-1v (complete).
